Challenge
Telecom activation portals live or die on their friction level. The client needed a platform that guided users through SIM selection, identity verification, and service activation in as few steps as possible — while integrating reliably with carrier backend systems for real-time provisioning. The portal also needed to handle traffic spikes during promotional periods without degrading the experience.
What We Built
We built the Quick Sim portal on Drupal, delivering a streamlined front-to-back activation flow with robust carrier API integration.
Frontend development — a clean, step-by-step activation interface designed to minimise drop-off at each stage. Clear progress indicators, inline validation, and a mobile-optimised layout ensured users could complete activation from any device without confusion.
Backend development — custom Drupal modules handling user account creation, SIM registration, service tier selection, and order status tracking. The backend managed the full lifecycle from initial signup through activation confirmation.
API integration — real-time integrations with carrier provisioning systems to trigger SIM activation, validate numbers, and confirm service status without manual processing. Integration with payment gateways handled billing setup for post-trial conversion.
QA — end-to-end testing of the complete activation flow across devices and browsers, including edge cases in API responses from carrier systems and payment processing failures.
Result
Quick Sim launched a portal that delivered on its core promise: activation in minutes, available around the clock, without calling anyone. The self-service architecture eliminated operator involvement for standard activations, reducing support costs while improving the customer experience for mobile consumers who expected instant results.
