Nick Anderson is a Santa Cruz-based multidisciplinary artist working across glass lampworking, oil painting, and large-scale mural art. His work has been shown in local galleries and sold through platforms including Fine Art America and Saatchi Art. He needed a dedicated online home — one that functioned as both a professional portfolio and a direct-sales storefront, without the commissions and constraints of third-party marketplaces.

Challenge

Selling original art online requires a specific balance: the site must be visually immersive enough to justify a considered purchase, while the eCommerce layer needs to handle secure transactions, inventory, and order fulfilment without friction. The artist also needed to manage the site independently — adding new works, updating prices, and processing orders without relying on a developer.

What We Built

We built the Nick Anderson Art site on WordPress, combining a visually-led design with a fully functional eCommerce layer.

Frontend development — a large-format image-first layout that lets original pieces and prints command full attention. Clean typography, minimal chrome, and artwork-focused navigation keep the buying experience focused on the work itself.

Backend development — WordPress with WooCommerce for product management, inventory tracking, and order processing. Nick can add new pieces, manage editions, adjust pricing, and fulfil orders entirely from the WordPress admin.

eCommerce configuration — secure payment processing, shipping options, and automated order notifications configured for an independent artist selling directly to collectors without a fulfilment middleman.

Responsive design — consistent presentation on desktop (where longer browsing sessions happen) and mobile (where most discovery starts).

DevOps — hosting configuration, deployment pipeline, and environment stability so the site runs reliably without requiring technical maintenance from the artist.

QA — end-to-end checkout testing across devices and browsers to ensure purchase flows worked without friction at every step.

Result

Nick Anderson Art launched with a platform that reflected the quality of the work it presented. Running independently of third-party marketplaces, Nick retains full margin on every sale and complete control over how his work is presented, priced, and delivered.
